2nd Thread

Assignment

Concept

Deliverables

As a quarter-long group project, we were tasked with finding a problem that needed solving and creating an app that solved it. With over 80% of clothing ending up in landfills each year and fast fashion rising, my teammates and I decided to create a high-end luxury consignment app that caters to a unique market. I was one of two project managers. I was also responsible for the High Fidelity mockups and worked on the homepage and marketing video.

Second Thread is a high-end luxury consignment app that follows the principles of affordability, inclusivity, and sustainability. The target audience is anyone between the ages of 20-30, and because inclusivity is a brand value, it includes all genders. There is shopping for consigned and upcycled clothing, and the app also includes a way to tailor and repair your clothes. The brand has an app, a landing page for the internet, and a marketing promotional video to promote the app.

The App

User Sign In

Here is an instance of a user landing on the home screen, then choosing to sign in. Users can visit their profile to see past orders, items sold, favorites, and rewards or log out from signing in. They can also change the settings of the app. Also, from this screen, users can shop, consign, or tailor their clothes.

User Shopping

This user then decides to shop in the app; they look at Second-Hand clothing but ultimately decide on Upcycled clothing. Instead of shopping by style, they decide to shop by picking the Gender-Neutral department.

Product Details

In this user's journey, they clicked the Upcycled shorts and then decided to see more about the team that upcycled them. They also chose to view more products like the shorts, which here are other products the team has upcycled.

Consignment and Tailoring

Should users choose to do so, they could Consign their items through 2nd Thread, gaining a percentage of the profit from the sale. Using us as the middleman, they help keep costs low from scalpers since we authenticate and promise a fair price. They also help to keep fakes off the market as well. Should they have clothing in need of repair, users can also choose the Tailor option to either repair their clothing, or alter it to fit with things such as hemming or size alteration.

Buying an Item

Last, the user can check their favorite items, add them to the cart, and fill out their shipping and billing information. Then place the order, and it's on the way to the user! Placing the order returns the user to the home screen, where they can browse more for future items they love.

The Home Page

Landing Page Mockup.png

Home Page

My team wanted a landing page where users could look online and find us, then download the app straight from the landing page. It explains who we are as a company, what we do, and our community. I was responsible for part of the design and prototyping of the moving parts, such as the carousel and community pictures.

The Marketing Video

Concept

The team collaboratively decided to make a parody video of Mean Girls to hit our target market. Since our target market is between 20 and 30-year-olds, and this was a massive movie during their early adolescent years, we wanted to recapture that with fast fashion instead. Thus our marketing video was born for all to see.
